TOKYO, Japan, September 1, 2010 - Foreign Affairs Minister Peter David on Wednesday met with his Japanese counterpart H.E Mr. Katsuya Okada as they discussed a wide range of issues including Climate Change, UN Security Council Reform among others. The Grenadian Minister, who is in the Japanese capital to attend the Second CARICOM-Japan Ministerial Meeting, took the opportunity to thank the Government of Japan for the assistance they have made available so far, especially in the Fisheries Sector, Human Resource Development through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) programmes and in the area of Climate Change. Mr. Okada said that Japan was pleased with Grenada’s leadership of Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) particularly at the COP15 and looks forward to their continued leadership at COP16 scheduled for Cancun, Mexico in December. |

ROYAL RESORTS STAFF PITCH IN TO CLEAN UP ST. MAARTEN’S PELICAN RESORT CLUB AFTER HURRICANE EARL |

ST. MAARTEN (Aug. 31, 2010) – Pelican Resort Club and Pelican Marina Residences in St. Maarten say goodbye to Hurricane Earl with relatively minor damages mostly contained to the resorts’ extensive gardens and shrubbery. On Sunday, Aug. 29 and Monday, Aug. 30, 2010 Hurricane Earl – the first major hurricane of 2010 to impact the Caribbean – passed 25 miles Northeast of St. Maarten as a Category 2 storm. Royal Resorts Caribbean CEO Richard Corso remained on-site throughout the entire storm. He credits the hard work and preparedness of Pelican Resort’s staff for protecting the resort and owners’ interests ensuring the safety and comfort of guests. |

Castries, September 1st th 2010: “The ECTEL model of joint Regulatory Authority is the most sought after model, to the point where we can export our human capital, our talents and expertise to several other regions of the world, including Asia, the Pacific and Africa, to demonstrate and share the ECTEL experience”… This impression of the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) was stated by Prime Minister, The Hon Dr. Ralph Gonsalves of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in his feature address at the award ceremony at Government House in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The Awards Ceremony recognized the contribution of nationals of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the liberalization of the telecommunications sector and the establishment of ECTEL. |
