A pleasant afternoon to you and a special thank you for being part of today’s Commonwealth Celebrations. Welcome.

While the Commonwealth exists to serve everyone in every member state, the Commonwealth has placed specific emphasis on youth development. I am happy to see so many young faces today. For this reason, my remarks will focus heavily on the youth and their relationship with the Commonwealth.

ImageRegisters over 450 Consumers for St. Maarten Trip Giveaway

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten (March 5, 2010) - Representatives from the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau met with hundreds of consumers and travel professionals at the recent New York Times Travel Show, which took place at the at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The St. Maarten Tourist Bureau shared a booth with St. Martin Office de Tourisme.  Representatives from Sonesta Resorts, St. Maarten, Winair, Mary's Boon, Le Domaine, Grand Case Beach Club, Divi Little Bay and the Radisson St. Martin also created a presence at the St. Maarten/St. Martin booth to enhance the overall experience for travel professionals and consumers.

South Grenada Regatta 2010 rocks the boats and the house!

ImageA truly international field of 21 boats registered for the 2 days of racing for the South Grenada Regatta hosted by Le Phare Bleu Marina & Boutique Hotel, and met perfect weather conditions.   Eight nationalities all focused on winning and having fun mean’t the Regatta would be one to remember.

Being a young event the South Grenada Regatta has the charm of a big family with lots of  character and it’s own uniqueness. People who know each other, new faces and friends of the family are integrated in no time. Racing boats met Catamarans and classic boats.  Cruisers join with landlubber some of whom are racing for the first time, locals mingle with tourists and the whole mix gives an atmosphere of achievement, fun and friendship.

In defence of women

St. George’s, March 7, 2010 – Former Senator and NDC executive member, Ingrid Rush, has come to defence of Hon. Glynis Roberts, the party’s Treasurer and Member of Parliament for St. George South.

Mrs. Rush, who served in the Senate from 2003 to 2008, was a guest on a Sunday radio programme when someone called to complain about an “advisor to the Prime Minister’’ who had been heard describing MP Roberts – the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation – as “the woman from the south.’’

The caller to the NDC’s “Heart Beat’’ programme on WEE FM felt the description of MP Roberts was disrespectful.

An Open Letter to Michael Bascombe re: Poor State of Sports Reporting

Dear Michael;

You are still making assumptions and publishing what you believe to be the facts without the necessary checking, a point which I made when I replied to your comments about the poor state of sports reporting in Grenada.

Your response published in The New Today of March 5, 2010 makes assumptions which could easily be clarified if you bothered to do your homework.

I will highlight just two of your assumptions; the first one in reference to what "one of my [your] colleagues pointed out in response".
