 Peter J. July, Group Chairman, RBTT Financial Holdings Limited, has announced that the Group recorded pre-tax earnings of US$145 million for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2007, an improvement of 5% over the corresponding period last year. The profit attributable to shareholders of US$107 million was affected by a higher effective Group tax rate, which moved up from 21% to 25%, mainly due to changes to the tax legislation in one jurisdiction, increased provisions for tax assessments and higher taxable income generated by the retail banking entities. As a consequence, diluted earnings per share moved down to US$0.31, compared with US$0.32 for the comparable period last year. |

If all goes well food processing in the region could be getting some very welcome support from an international organization. Recently a representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) was in Grenada as part of the fact finding tour of the Caribbean and parts 9of Latin America to assess the state of agro- processing in this part of the world. Ms. Clara Isabel Romero who working as a consultant for UNIDA is a specialist in food processing and her mission is assess that state of the agro industry in the Caribbean and report her findings to UNIDO. |

Tuesday, 13th May, 2008, St. George’s: Prime Minister, Dr the Right Hon. Keith Mitchell has taken up the chairmanship of the Regional Security System (RSS). In this regard, a delegation of top RSS officials, led by Regional Security Coordinator Grantley Watson, came to Grenada on Friday to meet with the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister and the RSS officials discussed relevant issues dealing with the functioning of the RSS and improving its capability within the region. The areas discussed included drug interdiction, greater cooperation between RSS states on matters related to intelligence as well as the RSS’ role in assisting member states during times of crisis and natural disaster and funding. |
