Fabulous Location for the 7th Grenada Hotel & Tourism Association Gourmet Evening

Following the wonderful setting of the Aquarium Restaurant & Bar, in March, the GHTA was very fortunate to have the use of the Beach House Restaurant & Bar last Sunday night, for the latest of their increasingly popular ‘Gourmet Evenings’. Waves gently lapping on the shore and the backdrop of lush vegetation, lent a feeling of peace and serenity making the venue truly fabulous.

At 4 pm a community table filled with locally grown produce along with a mystery basket containing the protein to be prepared, was handed over to two teams, each consisting of three chefs and one pastry chef.  After the allotted half an hour to decide on their menus, the chefs began the race against the clock to have three mouth watering courses for twenty five persons per team, cooked and plated by 8 pm.

It is very, very difficult for me to say goodbye in this fashion to a fallen fighter whom we had all hoped would have gone on much longer in fulfillment of a life of promise and dedication to the craft of journalism, his family, country, party, community and friends, with that sense of  purpose that he had come to represent to all who came to know him.

But as we all know, Man proposes and God disposes!

Botswain strikes again

NDC candidate for St. Patrick East Joe Gilbert is accusing Member of Parliament for the constituency Anthony Botswain of unprofessionalism in trying to disrupt an opposition meeting held in La Mode last Saturday.

Botswain who is also Grenada's  Economic and Planning Minister reportedly got into a shouting match after he stopped at the opposition NDC meeting, accusing the NDC and its supporters of trespassing on 'his territory.'

PM Mitchell has launches National Health and fitness programme - Get Fit Grenada

Prime Minister Dr. The Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell has launched a National Health and fitness programme called Get Fit Grenada. The Programme was launched on Saturday April 26th at the Body and Soul Gym and is aimed at promoting Healthy Lifestyles by emphasizing exercise and healthy diets. Speaking at the launch on Saturday, Prime Minister Mitchell said, "I am very saddened when I see families lose fathers, mothers and other family members very early in life. Lifestyle as it relates to diet and exercise affects every aspect of the family. We have become too sedentary! Gone are the days when entire villages not only participated in sporting events but also walked from village to village to compete. Through this programme I want to see us eat better, exercise more and live better."

Prime Minister Mitchell Compliments Chief Justice Rollins

Monday April 28th 2008, St. George’s- Grenadian Prime Minister Dr. The Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell has congratulated the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Secretariat, for their efforts to have a full-time Chief Justice appointed. Prime Minister Mitchell said he was concerned that such an important position was held by an Acting Chief Justice for such a long time, and says he is very satisfied with the appointment of Justice Hugh Rollins to the post.
