CARICOM/PANCAP CONVENES ELEVENTH MEETING |

The CARICOM/PANCAP Regional Coordinating Mechanism (RCM) will hold its eleventh meeting on 4-5 September 2008, in Dominica. High on the agenda of the meeting of the executive body of PANCAP is the implementation and management of the recently revised Caribbean Regional Strategic Framework 2008 -2012, the workprogramme of the partnership. The meeting is expected to agree on the modalities, including establishing a Committee to direct the essential planning, monitoring and evaluation, for the successful implementation of this workprogamme. |

The Minister of Carriacou and Petit Martinique Affairs, George Prime, has outlined several areas which appear to have been abused by the former Minister, Elvin Nimrod, in the run up to general elections on July 8th 2008. The areas concerned are the public assistance programme, land distribution to a number of persons from June 9th 2008, just over one week after the date for election was announced and the Emergency Housing Programme. |

Chubby Launches New Website |

(Trinidad)- Trincity mall’s south atrium was full of laughter and excitement on Saturday, July 12 when Chubby, the popular drink loved by children, launched its new and interactive children’s website. Describing the achievement as the first for a Caribbean brand, Chubby brand manager, Rae-Ann Clement said they were just as excited as the children with the final product. “We wanted to provide the kids with another opportunity to interact with their favourite brand and this website allows us to do that in a way that is more in keeping with the times and with what our kids are into now,” she explained. |

TREE PLANTING DAY- September 22nd, 2008 |

The Ministry of Education and the Grenada National Commission for UNESCO will organize a special activity for 22nd September 2008. Schools in Grenada will join the rest of the world in planting trees in the community. The first trees will be planted at noon in Oceania. |

Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas and Foreign Minister Peter David today met with a delegation from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Secretariat led by Director General D. Len Ishmael. The Prime Minister is the new chairman of the OECS, a position that is rotated among the nine member states. |
