GRENLEC Joins Its Regional Counterparts in Pledging Support for the Haitian Community

The Grenada Electricity Services Ltd. (GRENLEC) has begun drumming-up resources to support the relief efforts in Haiti.  Members of the GRENLEC Family have been making individual donations and Managing Director, Mr. Vernon Lawrence has indicated that the company will match the sum raised by its staffers.  GRENLEC will pool resources with CARILEC members to assist Haiti.

In a release issued at the end of last week, “CARILEC, the Association of Caribbean Electric Utilities and their vending partners pledged support to the restoration efforts in Haiti in the aftermath of last Tuesday’s   earthquake.   Since the disaster, the CARILEC Board of Directors has been in conference calls, deliberating on the best way offer assistance to the devastated island.  EDF Martinique, a CARILEC member, has already deployed two people to Haiti as part of a larger French delegation to assist in the restoration of electricity.

FirstCaribbean congratulates Andre Fletcher

ImageSt.George’s, Grenada, October 14, 2009 - Senior Branch Manager and Country Head for FirstCaribbean Grenada- Mr. Nigel Ollivierre, on Sunday October 11th, congratulated Grenada and West Indies batsman Andre Fletcher, after he was named ‘man of the match’ in the World XI against West Indies legends in the Grenada Cricket Classic Twenty20 matches played over the weekend at the Grenada National Stadium.

Fletcher secured the FirstCaribbean prize, after he delighted the crowd with stroke play that sent the ball to various parts of the ground, in a “masterful and stroke-filled” batting display.

DIGICEL REWARDS THE BIGGER TALKER /TEXTER

ImageSt. George’s Grenada, September 15th, 2009 – Digicel customers in Grenada continue to reap huge rewards for participating in its various promotions.  Ms. Dionne Lyght of Tempe St. George’s is Digicel’s Biggest Talker/Texter promotion winner. She won herself $5,000 while Ms. Anika Bayne and Ms.Trphena Salfarlie will receive $100 credit each for the next twelve months.

Digicel’s Bigger Talker/ Texter promotion was offered over a three day period, where the customers who talked and texted the most were rewarded. Lucky winner Ms. Lyght stated feeling overwhelmed and grateful to Digicel, “this money came at an opportune time and will be used productively”.

FirstCaribbean starts off St. Jude’s Rebuilding Fund with EC $200,000.00

Castries, St. Lucia, September 10, 2009, FirstCaribbean International Bank has made the first contribution to the rebuilding fund for the St. Jude’s Hospital in St. Lucia, which was severely damaged by fire recently.

Describing the St. Jude’s Hospital tragedy as one that touched the Bank at a personal level, FirstCaribbean International has moved expeditiously to rally behind the hospital and the surrounding community to catalyse the rebuilding effort. To this end, the Bank, a member of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) group of companies, has established an account named the St. Jude’s Hospital Rehabilitation Fund.

Expressing the sympathy of the management and employees of the Bank across the region to the St. Lucian Prime Minister, Stephenson King, Chairman of the Bank, Michael Mansoor launched the fund with a contribution of EC$200,000.
