AIR JAMAICA ANNOUNCES NEW SCHEDULES FOR MARCH & APRIL 2010 |

Kingston, Jamaica – February 2, 2010 – Air Jamaica today announced a significant realignment in its network – including the suspension of service on several routes – driven by the departure of three aircraft from its fleet. By April, Air Jamaica will operate six aircraft; one A319, four A320’s and one A321. “This fleet reduction has become necessary as we seek to meet our financial obligations, however Air Jamaica continues to be the best choice for convenient schedule and excellent service as we have ensured that adequate capacity is provided on our core routes”, stated Bruce Nobles, Air Jamaica’s President and CEO. |

LAUNCH OF RAIN WATER HARVESTING PROJECT AT THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION RESIDENCE, BENMAR The British High Commission is ‘Going Green’ and one of the many initiatives being pursued is to reduce water consumption. One of the ways we are addressing this is to install a water harvesting project at the High Commissioners’ Residence at Ben Mar in Erdiston Hill. This project is being installed by a local company that has 38 years of experience in the business within the region and has been operating here in Barbados since 2008 with many successful projects completed to date. |

Javier Escobedo As long as you had the money, one thing a traveler would have passing through the poor Haitian farming town of Leogane, before the terrible earthquake on January 12, was a good meal. A stop-off on the long road from Port-au Prince to the south-western cities of Jacmel and Les Cayes, Leogane's roadside stalls sold hot meals of plantain, beans and maize. Weary travellers would stock up on coconuts, mangoes, sugar cane, bananas and grapefruit, depending on the season, from women crouched with baskets by the roadside. |

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Haiti Prime Minister Honourable Jean-Max Bellerive has expressed his country’s gratitude for the quick response of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in the wake of the devastating earthquake of Tuesday 12 January 2010. Speaking to the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC), which was part of CARICOM’s Tactical Mission to Haiti, Mr Bellerive said his country was “indeed grateful for the quick response of the CARICOM leaders to our plight.” He added that “we count on our friends of the CARICOM to be our ambassadors, to help us convince the world that we need strong help.” |
