Give agriculture an equal chance says President Jagdeo

The CARICOM Agriculture Investment Forum got underway with calls for Caribbean governments to create a better environment for investors and bankers, and the private sector in general, to inject the necessary resources to boost the agriculture industry and ensure food security in the Region.

CCRIF Participants renew coverage at the start of the 2008 Hurricane Season

At the start of the 2008 Atlantic Hurricane season, all sixteen original member governments of the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) have signalled their continued support by renewing their 2008 policies.
 
Additionally, one member government ― Bermuda ― has made a US$500,000 donation to the facility’s reserves. In announcing the donation, Premier Ewart Brown said,

Government officials commend Miles Ahead's humanitarian work on the island

The Jamaica Government is embracing faith tourism efforts which stimulate the economy and provide medical care to its nationals.
 
Jamaica's Ministry of Health and Environment recently expressed appreciation to the San Diego-based Miles Ahead nonprofit organization for its faith-based humanitarian mission, in which 80 medical professionals brought some US $5 million

Guyana Launches Technical Theatre Training for CARIFESTA X

As Guyana prepares to host the Tenth Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA X) 22-31 August 2008, capacity is being built in the area of theatre training for over 600 persons from across the country. To this end, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport launched a Technical Theatre Training program on Monday 2 June at the National Cultural Centre, the venue for theatrical productions to be staged by local and regional contingents during CARIFESTA X.

CARICOM HIV/AIDS Edutainment project play opens in Saint Lucia

The Caribbean HIV and AIDS Edutainment Project under the Caribbean Community Secretariat (CARICOM) and the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) Programme is to stage its first theatre production at the  Grotto at Samaan’s Park, Castries,  Saint Lucia on 6 June 2008.
