Official visit continues - Havana |

HAVANA, Cuba, February 24, 2009 – A Grenada delegation, led by Tourism and Foreign Affairs Minister Peter David, continues an official visit to Cuba on Tuesday, aimed at strengthening relations between both countries.
Mr. David on Monday met with his Cuban counterpart Felipe Perez Roque where they discussed areas of cooperation including health, education and infrastructural development.
The Grenadian Minister stressed his country’s support to Cuba and denounced the near 50-year US economic and trade blockade on the Caribbean island.
Mr. David said the international airport, which will bear the name of the late former Prime Minister Maurice Bishop, is an expression of the collaboration of both countries which expands over 30 years.
Grenada and Cuba first established diplomatic relations on April 14th, 1979.
The Foreign Minister also laid a wreath at the Jose Marti Memorial and met with Grenadian students at the International School of Nursing for the Caribbean in Havana.
Mr. David is accompanied by Works Minister, Joseph Gilbert; Grenada's Ambassador to Cuba, Raphael Joseph and Foreign Ministry official, Cyrella Steele.
