Chairman of the Grenada Board of Tourism Mr. Richard Strachan is leading a 10-member Grenada delegation to the annual International Trade Bolsa, (ITB) which will be held in Berlin, Germany from March 11 – 15, 2009.

Regarded as one of the biggest trade and consumer shows in the world, participation enables tourism destinations like Grenada and other tourism and hospitality entities to build awareness, network, and showcase their products and services to thousands of visitors from around the world. As participants, the Grenada delegation will seek to maximize its public relations mileage, and gather general intelligence about the important German market.
In 2008 Grenada experienced a significant 11.73% growth in visitor arrivals from Germany. It was calculated that their length of stay of 11 – 15 nights was the highest recorded during that year. The Grenada delegation is therefore keen on establishing new contacts and consolidating old relationships so that the recent successes can be sustained. The Grenada delegation will also use the ITB forum to share its marketing plans for the 2009/2010 winter service with Condor, with which it has a marketing agreement.

Grenada’s other participants at ITB include the Director of Tourism Mr. William Joseph, and representatives from the Grenada Hotel & Tourism Association, Blue Horizons Garden Resort, Cabier Ocean Lodge, Mount Cinnamon Beach Resort, Spice Island Beach Resort, Adventure Jeep Tours, Sunsation Tours and Karibikreisen.

Overall it’s anticipated that this year’s ITB will attract close to 110,000 trade and 170,000 consumers. A significant number of tour operators, airlines, hoteliers, advertising agencies, travel agents and a wide range of suppliers will also be in attendance.
