ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA – 31st March, 2009: Digicel, the only telecommunications company that offers you the chance to win something every time you use your mobile phone have again today rewarded one of its luck customers with an all expense paid trip for 2 to St. Lucia to the 5th and final ODI in the Digicel Series 2009 West Indies Versus England.
Wendell John of Belmont in St. George – a cricket fan and loyal Digicel customer was selected the lucky winner of the March Text to win promotion. As part of this month text to win promotion Digicel partnered with the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer -Nokia to give its customers a chance to have an experience of a life time.
In the promotions which started on March 6th Digicel customers were asked to text win to the short code 7171 if they wanted a chance to win the grand prize of an all expense paid trip for 2 to St. Lucia plus US$150 spending money and a Nokia 5310, $100 credit plus signed cricket merchandise which also made up part of the Grand Prize.
Thousand participated but there was only one grand prize and that which went to Wendell John, who said, I’ve has been texting to win because he really wanted to win the trip. I’m also said that he is looking forward to having a good time in St. Lucia and hopes the West Indies wins the final one and the series over all.
According to Events and Promotions Executive – “the mechanics have pretty much remained the same - text win to 7171 for a chance. The cost is still $1 but this month with the Digicel Series in progress, what better way than to tie in the two to make one grand promotion. With Nokia partnering with Digicel in this promotion, customers got a real treat. There were weekly prizes of Nokia phones along with various autographed cricket merchandize including bats, team jerseys, posters and more.
