April 2009: Management of Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina had its first meeting with local businesses and stakeholders in the Lagoon Area.

The meeting was held last Wednesday March 25th at Port Louis Marina where more than half of invited attended. The main objective of the meeting was to start dialogue to ensure that Camper & Nicholsons keeps all involved updated on the development of the Port Louis Marina.

Mr. Robin Swaisland explained the plans for further development at the marina during 2009, and circulated two drawings.  The first showed the extent of berthing to be added, and the second the location and size of a construction support area required by the contractors building the marina.

Invited businessmen and stakeholders were also invited to ask questions and make comments, where several concerns were expressed. Present at the meeting were  Mr Patrick Brathwaite of Gleans Garage Ltd; Mr David Otway of David Otway Ltd; Mr Horatio Brizan owner of Tropicana Inn; Grenada Yacht Club Representatives Mr Derick Steele and Mr Richard McIntyre;  Mr Michael Minors from Bryden & Minors and Mr Roger Lewis of Sea Port Restaurant. General Manager Clyde Rawls, Project Manger Robin Swaisland and Sales and Marketing Coordinator Danny Donelan represented Camper and Nicholsons.

Mr. Brathwaite of Gleans Garage noted the economic benefits of the marina to the Grenadian economy. This was supported by all present. The meeting ended with a call from Mr. Steele for more support for Junior Sailing. Camper and Nicholsons officials promised to consider this and discuss the issue at subsequent meetings.
