GRENADIAN STUDENTS RECEIVE HELP FROM GRENADA’S CONSULATE IN NEW YORK PDF Print E-mail

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Consul General in New York has responded to the needs of Grenadian Students in Mexico in light of the Swine Flu outbreak in that Country.

Grenada’s Consul General in New York Honourable Derrick James has confirmed that a shipment of mask (approximately Ninety -90) was dispatched via Federal Express and will arrive in Mexico on April 29th 2009.

Honourable James reaffirmed that the arrangement with Federal Express is for door to door delivery.

Grenada’s Consul General has also confirmed that Governments throughout the region are taking the same approach as the Government of Grenada, advising their students to remain quarantined in Mexico. His confirmation follows a meeting with the Caribbean Consuls General in New York on Tuesday April 28th 2009.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been assured that constant contact is maintained with the students via appointed liaison Officer Renortha Penny.

Consul General James also gave the assurance that the consulate will continue to maintain contact and work along with students in order to ensure their safety.

An additional Four Hundred (400) masks are being prepared for shipment to the students.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also able to confirm that students are currently appropriately stocked with food and other basic supplies.
