May 18th, St. George’s: The USA market is one of the most important source markets for Grenada’s tourism industry. Given this significance, the Grenada Board of Tourism remains cognizant of the need to be vigilant in that area by monitoring trends and being proactive about initiating strategies that will allow for continued growth in visitor arrivals from there.

With this in mind, the GBT has taken the bold and unprecedented step to appoint Christina Mucha and Karin Clarke to perform sales promotion duties, on its behalf, in the USA. They have been commissioned to work with the travel trade in the better producing states of New York, Baltimore, Connecticut, New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia, and other states along the North Eastern Seaboard of the USA.
Among the objectives of this initiative are to stimulate further growth from that region, and sustain the viability of the current airlift to Grenada, especially as it relates to American Airlines and Air Jamaica.

In seeking to ensure that these new sales representatives are properly equipped to work with the travel agents in the selected areas, the Grenada Board of Tourism has organized a two-week orientation visit for them to undergo a thorough and comprehensive product education programme that will have them fully informed about all aspects of Grenada’s tourism product, as well as plans for the future development of the industry.  They are currently in Grenada meeting with the stakeholders and service providers and visiting attractions that are normally enjoyed by visitors.

The Grenada Board of Tourism is confident that these two recent appointments will make a significant contribution towards ensuring that Grenada gets more business from the important USA market.
