Update re. Miss Grenada World Contest |

Wednesday 31st January 2007, St. George’s: On Sunday, January 28, potential contestants to the Miss Grenada World Contestant met at Jenny’s Place Grand Anse to complete Application forms and have their pictures taken. The latest major sponsor, Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN), was on hand to photograph and interview the young women. At the current count some 16 Contestants have entered the Miss Grenada World Contest. The contestants represent a wide cross section of Grenadian society. Many of them have been local models and therefore already have some experience of appearing in public.
So enthusiastic was the group that the Miss Grenada World Committee has decided to extend the entry deadline from January 31 to February 7, 2007. “It is important that we have the opportunity to work with as many young women as possible. This is great for them and they each deserve to be the best they can be.” For this reason, the Miss Grenada World Committee has extended the entry deadline by one week. By that time it is hoped that about 20 young women will have registered. A training schedule is being worked on for the next time the young women get together. The training sessions will be held at Jenny’s Place in Grand Anse.
Two major events associated with the Miss Grenada World Contest are a Fashion Show with all of the contestants scheduled for March 24 under the patronage of Lady Williams. The other major event will be the National Finals on March 31. Both events will be held at the Grenada Boys Secondary School (GBSS) Auditorium. Tickets are soon to go on sale for these major events.
The Miss Grenada World Committee encourages sponsors for the contestants to come forward. “They need your support to ensure that they put their best foot forward.” Said Jennifer Hosten.
