Tuesday, March 20, 2007, St. George’s: In keeping with its overall communications strategy prior to commencement date of Value Added Tax (VAT) on October 01, 2007, the VAT Implementation Unit made a presentation to Cabinet yesterday, Monday March 19, 2007.
 
The VAT team – headed by Mr. Lennox Andrews, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ministry of Finance and comprising Melville Hosten, Comptroller of Inland Revenue; Pauline Peters, VAT Coordinator and Curlan Gilchrist, VAT Consultant – gave a detailed overview of VAT concepts and terminologies as well as the new format which is designed to ensure administrative efficiency and compliance when VAT is implemented..
 
The presentation was well-received and attracted lively feedback from Cabinet members.
 
Arrangements are in progress for a similar presentation – facilitated by Mrs. Petrona Sealy-Browne, Chairman of the VAT Legislative Review Committee – to be delivered to all parliamentarians by the end of March 2007.
