MR. AND MRS. RICHARD RAMDHANNY (LEFT) OF TSL GRENADA AND DIRECTORS OF TSL TRINIDAD If Grenada is to compete successfully in the new and ever more challenging regional and global business environment it will need the initiative of bold and enterprising businesspeople and entities. These business persons must be prepared to take brave but not blind steps into analyzed but uncharted territory to make available to Grenada the kind and quality of goods and service that will allow us to compete on an international level. In no area is this more crucial than in the area of Information Technology since it is well known that information is what is driving today’s world. TSL Grenada Limited is prepared to pull Grenada into the technological age especially in the area of IT kicking and screaming if necessary but preferably smiling at the knowledge of the great advantages lying in store for us as a country and people once we advance into the brighter side of information technology. When TSL, Grenada was officially launched recently it could be accurately said that a new era of IT service was symbolically ushered in here and now businesses can feel assured that they have full support and backing going into the future competitively. A member of the TSL Group from Trinidad and Tobago, TSL Grenada will have access to all of the knowledge, skill, experience and technological know how of the parent company which is indeed a considerable amount. The launching ceremony brought together directors from TSL Trinidad including the Chief Executive Officer and President of the TSL Group and Chairman of TSL Grenada, Mr. Nicholas Galt, the management and staff of TSL Grenada and members of the business community including customers of TSL Grenada. Galt in delivering the feature address described the official launch of TSL Grenada as another step in the fulfillment of the company’s Caribbean dreams which he said was removing boundaries and working together in a completely holistic approach towards providing world class services in CARICOM through local professionals. He said the principles of CSM and CSME have been very much on the radar of Caribbean leaders these last couple of years in CARICOM’s approach to unity. However even though it was recently announced that CSME has now been pushed back to 2015, the Caribbean entrepreneurs will continue to find ways to work in harmony towards common goals and objectives within the region. Galt said even prior to the CSME agenda entrepreneurs in the region were transcending the boundaries by venturing forth into regional markets, making strong capital investments, turning around companies which would eventually boast to be among the best in the world through the use of Caribbean human capital. He said the mediocre expectations of a Caribbean of 15 years ago have clearly passed. TSL’s venture into Grenada the CEO pointed out was not by accident but took into account the changing global scenario which makes in necessary for regional business entities to be stronger. He said the time is here when European and American companies are no longer willing to have business relationships with many companies in small countries or island states but they now want a single relationship especially when one considers the overall size of the Caribbean region and the economic opportunities within it. TSL Trinidad’s first foray into the region was in 2002 when they launched TSL Dutch Caribbean in Curacao and from then spread to other parts of the Caribbean. Galt said the model of the TSL group is based on its 100% commitment to customer satisfaction and in order to ensure that it maintained its customer focus is was necessary to form alliances with strong in- country operators. Alliances which would allow the company to transfer its technological knowledge gathered over the past 28 years to in- country operators with strong entrepreneurial spirit. He said that the Managing Director of TSL Grenada Mr. Richard Ramdhanny and his management team overflow with the spirit. Galt described TSL Grenada as an in- country operation managed by Grenadians with the ability to provide world class technology to communities in Grenada with top class services and solutions comparable to any other IT provided anywhere else in the world. The CEO described TSL as first and foremost an innovation company which does not play the “me too” game and is consequently cognizant of the fact that it cannot be everything to everybody. He said their niche markets allow them to deliver excellence in service and these markets have been carefully chosen. Born 28 years ago at the foot of Laventille in Port Of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago TSL now has operations at the University of the West Indies, Point Lisas Industrial Estate, the Hilton Hotel of Trinidad and Tobago, three locations in Woodford Street, in New Kingston Jamaica, Christchurch Barbados, Castries St. Lucia, Kingstown St. Vincent and now Grand Anse, St. George’s Grenada. Galt said in Trinidad and Tobago TSL employs 230 professionals and cover most aspects of information and communication technology. TSL brings many unique skills to the Caribbean such as being the only certified network forensic auditors in the English speaking Caribbean, it successfully piloted the Caribbean’s first court recording solutions in the legal fraternity with more than 80 courts being enrolled and implemented in Trinidad and Tobago. This is about to be replicated in other islands in the region. TSL provides the finest and most secure network security for many of the financial institutions in the region. Its relationship with IBM and others allows it to deliver the best solutions in server architecture in Trinidad and Tobago and is the largest provider of prepaid cellular top up with a community of 3000 merchants who deliver services for Digicel and Cable & Wireless known as TSTT in Trinidad and Tobago. TSL’s group companies also deliver the finest quality products and services in a number of areas. Managing Director of TSL Grenada, Mr. Richard Ramdhanny said while TSL Grenada has been operating since October 2006 the ceremonial launch gives him great pride in the achievement they have made so far and great optimism for the future. He described TSL Grenada as a full service IT solutions provider. Ramdhanny started his own IT company in 2001 with according to him, virtually no money, stuck out the initial difficulties and was able to build up a very solid client base. He thanked the clients present for being instrumental in supporting his company by giving it the chance to support them. He said after some time it became clear that excellent customer service was not enough and they realized that they were supporting other companies’ solutions and would have to go back to the drawing board each time in engineering solutions for customers. He said as fate would have it he walked into the offices of TSL on Woodford Street in Port of Spain a little over a year ago and what he saw there blew him away. After listening to Chairman Nick Galt explain his vision for his company and the region he realized that TSL was the right place. It had he said the right vibes, the right energy but most importantly the right solutions. Things progressed quickly after that meeting and in October 2006 TSL Grenada became a reality, continuing its dedication to customers but with the support and resources of the TSL team in Trinidad. He said Grenada now possess a full artillery to tackle the technology challenges of customers representing vendors like Polycom, Fluke Networks, Juniper Networks, IBM, SYSPRO, 3COM, Netscreen and many others. The Managing Director is convinced that TSL Grenada is the right place for him and hopes that soon it will be the right place for all those seeking IT solutions.
