Grenada’s National Strategic Development Plan can now be accessed on the Agency for Reconstruction and Development (ARD) website at www.ardgrenada.org .

The comprehensive 151-page document is available in its entirety or in parts, for easy reading. All the documents are available by clicking on ‘National Strategic Development Plan’ on the top right hand side of the homepage or by clicking Departments and going to Economic Recovery.

The documents provide a detailed history of the planning process, which began in January 2006 with a series of Visioning Workshops with stakeholders representing every sector of the Grenadian society. This included representation by Public Officers, Non Governmental Organisations, Trade Unions, the Grenada Conference of Churches, the Private Sector, Statutory Bodies, the Economic Advisory Council, the Project Coordinating Unit, Parliamentarians and Political Organisations.

An analysis of the global social, political and economic trends that can influence planning and development in Grenada was presented at each Workshop, from which a Vision Statement and Core Values for the Nation evolved.

The Workshops also documented the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats that Grenada faces and developed 12 goals for which various objectives, strategies and activities were identified.

The ARD was mandated by the Government of Grenada to prepare the 10-year National Strategic Development Plan, which was accomplished with assistance from the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Cooperation through the provision of Macro Economist Dr. Sylvia Charles.

The Action Plan, which facilitates the budgeting process and identifies the agencies and time-lines for implementation, is included in the documents.
