The merry jingle if Christmas bells, the blink and flicker of Christmas lights and the happiness and joy of Christmas shopping….at Excel Home Mart are all part of the excitement of this holiday season.

Does the name ring a bell? It should and not only a Christmas bell because Excel Plaza Shopping Mall located at Grand Anse in St. George’s is by now a household name in Grenada, recognized as the finest local shopping facility for the wide variety of first class shops available there.

Though still an extremely busy person, manager of Excel Plaza Mr. Kent Joseph admits he can breathe a little easier now that in his opinion, the facility is complete with the recent opening of Excel Home mart and B.J. Electronics.

One can always talk about a place or object and use all kinds of colorful adjectives to bring the picture home to the reader or listener but everyone knows that the best dispenser of information is first hand experience. This is why before we try to tell you about these two new shopping facilities we will encourage everyone to mosey on down and see for themselves.

However until you get there let us give you an idea of what to expect.

Joseph describes Excel Home mart as the newest addition to Excel Plaza, a household store that brings to shoppers a line of goods and services that were not available at the Excel Plaza before.

Ideally located in almost 3,000 sq. feet of shopping space above the Chef’s Castle restaurant and at the back of Papa Joe’s Sports Bar, Excel Home Mart brings to Grenada a type of mini Wal-mart facility where the housewife or man of the house who has little time to spear but needs many different things and is concerned about quality can save time and get almost everything in one place.

Listen; at Excel Home mart you can get toys-and really great toys at that, I saw them myself- household goods, linen, bedroom items such as sheets, pillows and pillow cases, bathroom accessories, accessories and mountings for mirrors, kids craft and items for schools which Joseph said has been in most stores.

And if you are starting to get concerned about price no need to worry because items at this new facility are quite reasonably priced-I saw this myself as well- and the shopper will be pampered by a well trained and customer friendly staff.

The manager said the actual idea behind Excel Home mart was initially of True Value house ware/hardware store. As a matter of fact the red/blue and light grey color scheme is almost similar to the true Value concept. In fact the stands, shelving etc. Were purchased from true Value agents in Grenada.

This combined with very attractive displays ensures a very high standard in the small supermarket like atmosphere.

What about B.J. Electronics? This is a small electronics store located downstairs supplying vehicle accessories electronics for the home, small televisions, radios, I-pods and a number of other small electrical accessories.

Joseph revealed that the realization of Excel Home mart and B.J. Electronics took a year of planning, shopping and bringing in supplies. He said there are still some more items to be added to the shelves next year and as time goes by the range will be expanded.

These new additions to the mall complete the Excel shopping experience. It means that now all of the store spaces are filled and the whole shopping environment of the complex will now be enhanced.

Joseph said the stores will be providing items which are not yet sold at the plaza and also covers an area that is sadly lacking in the southern shopping belt.

The Excel Shopping Plaza experience has always been pleasing and it has now expanded to cater for all needs including the housewife.

Therefore all are invited to come down there soon and do all their Christmas shopping in one beautiful setting.

Expect music every Friday and Saturday night and remember the usual annual spectacular lighting up of the plaza has started something no one likes to miss around Christmas time.
