Mount Cinnamon - Grenada's boutique resort beach hotel is delighted to announce a partnership with Verandah Restaurant & Bar.  As of August 1st  'Verandah' will be taking over management of Savvys restaurant and rebranding it as the islands first true seafood restaurant and bar, the newly named 'Verandah' restaurant will offer a new menu with an obviously strong seafood influence and new wine list prepared by a certified Sommelier from the Guild of Master Sommeliers.  
Mount Cinnamon's restaurant and kitchen staff will be retained by the new group who hope to capture an exciting market segment by being the first restaurant in Grenada to class itself as truly a seafood eatery.
 
Mount Cinnamon Manager, Chris Ghita commented "We are delighted to be able to partner with this group in opening a new restaurant concept to Mount Cinnamon and Grenada; I know that the groups owners are motivated and very talented individuals who will no doubt make their mark on Grenada's culinary offerings. We are always striving at ways to make the experience at Mount Cinnamon a more unique one and we feel that  'Verandah' will do just that, we are also delighted to be partnering with a Grenadian company to help create a wonderful new addition to the dining repertoire of the country.
 
Leading the 'Verandah' team is Executive Chef Gary Birkett, formally Spice Island Resort's sous chef for two and half years.  Chef Birkett hails from the United Kingdom and has over 15 years experience in the culinary trade.  He has worked in several acclaimed kitchens throughout the world including the Sydney Opera House and ‘Heathcotes’ in Northern England.  Birkett is committed to supporting the local economy of Grenada and will utilize local produce and ingredients to create what he calls …”Modern Caribbean Seafood”.
 
Executive Chef of 'Verandah', Gary Birkett commented "I want to thank Peter de Savary for this amazing opportunity, this is my first venture as a chef / patron and I am proud to be situated within the Mount Cinnamon resort. This gives me the opportunity to really showcase my culinary talents and international experience, in a beautiful setting. I encourage and invite all Grenadians, residents and tourist alike to come and sample our new menu, wine list and service. I am confident it will be an experience they will not forget and will surely want to repeat.
 
 'Verandah' will open its doors at Mount Cinnamon on Friday August 1st with the official opening on Friday August 8th, the restaurant team will be serving breakfast every day from 7am- 10am, casual lunch at the Beach Cabana 12pm -3pm (hotel and invited guests only) and dinner Monday-Saturday 6:30pm-10pm. The beach cabana will also be available for private parties.
