WELCOME TO MARIO'S HOME OF THE GOOD PIZZA PDF Print E-mail

Call me old-timish if you like, call me archaic but I tend to regard somewhat askance, new businesses and endeavours that claim to put the interest and benefits of its customers before anything else.

I am also a little leery about restaurants and eating places that harp on about healthy dishes that are also tasty combined with variety and painstaking and thoughtful preparation. I must admit that I was of the school of though that insisted that a really good meal had to be prepared at home. As we grow older we should become wiser and as we become more exposed we should be man (or woman) enough to admit the error of our ways. I am now therefore admitting that I am now a reformed and more enlightened man. Mario’s Pizza did it and I feel suitably chastised.

Anyone who has looked at television just a little will be quite familiar with the name Mario’s Pizza and it association with good food. Most would probably have just thought, what the heck, they all claim the same thing. Others would have thought who knows? Maybe it is true.

LIKE A MAGNET: MARIO’S PIZZA DRAWS MANY GRENADIANS FOR A TASTE

Now Mario’s Pizza is in Grenada and they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating but in this case, the proof of the pizza and all of the several other tasty offering there is certainly in the eating.

Manager of Mario’s in Grenada, Mr. Winston Powell is as proud as only someone who knows they are offering the best product available can be. While not boasting we think he well deserves to take a pat on the back for the result of his belief in good quality, high standards and tasty, healthy food.

While Mr. Powell admits that as all other business enterprises he and his partner expect to make a reasonable return on their investment, talking to him it seems that this doesn’t matter too much. Certainly it is not the be all and end all of the operation.

He seems much more excited and enthused when talking about the quality of the food, the service, their plans for contributing to the development of the society, the appeal of the country and its people and did I mention the quality of the food?

The naturally light-mannered manager sobers when he talks of his and his Grenadian partner’s commitment to keeping a high standard and keeping the Mario’s quality.

Mr. Powell is absolutely dedicated to serving customers the highest quality foods that they possibly can and he is convinced that once one goes over the menu one will see that he/she can get the finest ingredients in pizza, burgers and chicken anywhere.

You see Mario’s Pizza does not stop with pizza but attempts to satisfy every taste, preference, prejudice and idiosyncrasy. They cater to the most liberal minded customer and the most reserved, the most health conscious and the not-even aware-that-theyare- eating-healthy-at Mario’s.

He said Mario’s is very committed to treating employees in a certain standard and this ensures that good customer service prevails along with the quality of delivery, the quality of food, the speed of delivery and the cleanliness of the environment.

Other outstanding aspects of the operation include employee and customer relationship. I hope you are not sitting there thinking this all sounds good but how can I afford all this new-fangled food all healthy and tasty and everything, good customer service, speed of delivery and all this rare fancy shmancy stuff? You are in for a surprise because eating good and eating healthy is not always expensive, at least not at Mario’s.

As the Manager explained Mario’s have designed their menus giving priority to providing the highest value for the dollar and this is accomplished by purchasing efficiency in the operation. Therefore, cheer up since you can now start your day the way a day is supposed to be started. You can get an egg sandwich with coffee, tea or juice, depending on your preference for less than $10.00.

Optionally you can get goodies like ham and cheese, ham and eggs, hotdogs and egg, hotdog and fries, or hamburger and fries, either one for just $10.00. Mr. Powell insists that what you get from Mario’s is healthy food and when you get vegetarian food no meat or meat oil touches it. But wait I almost forgot the vegetarians among us. For you there is vegetarian cheese, seven different vegetables, vegetables with Soya that is pure, no meat parts in it.

We meat eaters are well taken care of as well with all types of meat including ground beef, salami and turkey ham. Also available is grilled chicken salad and others. At Mario’s food is not fried, no dangerous artery-clogging trans-fat there. Foods are baked for you so you get the picture when we talk about healthy perspective.

The manager, with his usual good humor said he wants his customers around for a long time and he does not want when they are getting older to see them suffering from blockages in the heart, hypertension, breast cancer, prostate cancer and all sorts of illness caused by bad food.

He said, “We are here for the people and we will give them what they want. We want to show them love and it is going to come in a whole heap of different ways. And just to show it is not all about profit or not all about dispensing food even, the company is interested in establishing an academic program with all the schools. They will support the more serious and industrious students.

Mario’s will also support the athletic programs and in the future will put up a boxing gym to assist in the discipline of the youth. Mr. Powell is a boxing enthusiast so would-be trouble makers watch out.

How will Mario’s set itself apart from any other old pizza or fast (or not so fast) food joint in town? They will be coming at you with the best quality services available and the best prices that can be gotten for it. The principals are convinced that in this competitive environment great service will set them apart.

MR. WINSTON POWELL, MANAGER OF MARIO’S IN GRENADA
Mr. Powell is a computer engineer and has held many technical and managerial positions in the computer and telecommunications industry including IBM, HP, AT&T and MCI, where he has distinguished himself as a quality guru. His teams have been ISO registered. He has also been recognized by the U.S. senate for the pursuit of Excellence in the Malcom Baldrige quality management programs.

What is he doing in food business you may ask? I can only tell you what I know and that is he is bringing the same level of distinction he served with in his former occupation with and his same passion for excellence and the attention to minute detail. He came to Grenada because his partner convinced him and he has now proven it to be true that Grenada is developing and is an excellent place to invest. He has now fallen deeply in love with the country and its people. Mr. Powell said the vibes from the people is cool and now he has taken a keen interest in the building and development of the society.

Now Powell’s heart is in Grenada and in the restaurant business and I am sure this means a lot to customers and would be customers.

Besides boxing Mr. Powell has a keen interest in X games type sports which is gaining popularity worldwide and Mario’s has a vision of promoting activities like that in Grenada. He also loves the young people and experiences genuine happiness when they patronize the establishment and he sees them happy and enjoying themselves. Mostly he is energized by the outpouring of love. He believes in love and likes to see it flowing both ways.

Mr. Powell describes Mario’s as a family environment and informs everyone that they are more than welcome in fact they are cordially invited to join the Mario’s family. From us at the Barnacle, the family is the most stabilizing factor in any society and if that family is a warm and caring what’s better than that?

Visit Mario’s and experience the warmth.
