Located in Bonair, St. Mark, the School caters to thirty eight (38) children with special needs in the parishes of St. Patrick, St. Mark and St. John. At present, the building is outfitted with only two (2) bathrooms, which are ill equipped to serve the special needs of the differently able. The new facility will include three students’ bathrooms, one of which will be specially designed for the physically challenged, a teacher’s bathroom and a shower stall.
On making the presentation to the School’s Principal, Ms. Judy Ann Auld, Republic Bank, Management Associate Aesia Worme,: “At Republic Bank we care about our communities and continue to seek all avenues to assist young people in the area of education, cultural development, sports and the differently able. With the installation of the new rest room facilities at the Victoria School for Special Education, we have been afforded the opportunity to make life a bit more comfortable for the for the thirty (38) students and seven (7) staff of the school.”
The work, expected to be completed in time for the new school term in September, should create a more conducive learning environment for the students. Within recent years, Republic Bank has expended over $764,000.00 in projects to assist special needs children, and remain committed to its corporate social responsibility in this area.
