On Majestic Thursday, the National Stadium was transformed into a royal venue, as seven beauties vied for the chance to be crowned this year’s Carnival Queen. Each parish in the tri-island state had a proud representative. The ladies competed in costumes, swim wear, interviews, cultural performances and evening gowns. The show was special this year particularly because of its timely emphasis on Breast Cancer, a disease that sadly continues to impact women across the world. One of the major sponsors for the Queen Show was Dove, a brand that is distributed by George F. Huggins & Co. (G’da) Ltd. All the queen show contestant winners in the individual categories – Ms. Photogenic: Yasha Cox – Ms. St. Patrick, Ms. Congeniality: Yasha Cox – Ms. St. Patrick, Best Talent: Donessa Charles – Ms. St. Andrew, Best Swim Wear: Jermillia Joseph – Ms. Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Best Costume: Anisha David, Best Evening Gown: Donessa Charles – Ms. St. Andrew, Best Interview: Yasha Cox – Ms. St. Patrick and the new queen: Anisha David – Ms. St. David all received awards from Dove’s Brand Manager, Ms. Nazima Aziz. Of course the contestants will still continue to have their glow long after the carnival season is over by utilising the Dove products in the hamper that they will each receive in a special prize giving ceremony.
