RE: Grenada-Dove Sanctuary, Mount Hartmann Estate, Dove Sanctuaries

Dear Prime Minister Dr. Mitchell, dear Mr. Richardson, dear Sirs,
we refer to your letter of December 2006 to Dr. Michael Rands of BirdLife International.
We strictly support the efforts of BirdLife International concerning the critically endangered Grenada-Dove. We also call for preservation of the Grenada Dove as well as for enhancement of their survival, living and procreation conditions.

The ITB Berlin took place the 10th and 11th of March in Berlin – Grenada with its proclaimed Eco-Tourism was part of it. ITB Berlin is a prime marketplace, and a driving force behind the entire industry and represents the entire product spectrum of the tourist industry. At the same time, ITB forms the basis for the development of new ideas, global approaches and targeted marketing.

We took this chance to perform the dangerous threat of the Grenada Dove  on Saturday, the 10th of March in front of the exhibition stand of Grenada Eco-Tourism and talked to the representatives of Grenada Tourism in a cooperative atmosphere.

Attached you find some photos of this action which purposes to remind you  as committed Government of Grenada to your advocacy for the Grenada Dove which is enshrined and promoted as your national bird.

To understand Eco-Tourism in its full meaning we would expect you to start an environmental impact assessment at first before selling the building plot to Four Seasons Hotel & Resorts.
Secondly we would appreciate it very much, if you start construction works not before the living space of the Grenada Dove is ensured.
Third we would appreciate it also very much, if  you agree upon a convenant with Four Seasons to get into positive action for the protection of the bird.

We will let BirdLife International and all other like-minded supporters as well as the media know about this action at the ITB in Berlin and would be very glad to hear from  your ongoing efforts.

With kind regards
