Minister of Tourism Hon. Peter David and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Mrs. Arlene Buckmire-Outram met with officials of Camper & Nicholsons Port Louis Marina on Tuesday September 9th 2008 to discuss plans for the Marina in Grenada. On site to receive the Minister were General Manager Clyde Rawls, Marketing and Sales Coordinator Danny Donelan and Project Manager Robin Swaisland. The Camper & Nicholsons team briefed the Minister and his permanent Secretary extensively on the progress of the project. Rawls stressed how pleased Camper & Nicholsons were to be developing the beautiful Port Louis Marina and outlined plans for the construction of the new super yacht berths and the state of the art capitainerie. "When this project is completed we will have some of the best facilities any where in the world," Rawls noted. This project is one which I am sure we at Camper & Nicholsons and the people of Grenada will be very proud of," Rawls remarked.
 
The meeting also discussed the benefits of yachting to Grenada. Sales and Marketing Coordinator, Danny Donelan outlined Camper & Nicholsons view on this topic to Minister David. "We are sure that this project will create many new, high quality jobs right here in Grenada," Donelan said. The Camper & Nicholsons team and the Minister agreed that much more focus needed to be placed on yachting as an industry and that more collaboration needed to take place between the Government and the yachting community to push this marina. Mr. Donelan said that the new Camper & Nicholsons marina will bring more of the yachting community to Grenada and assist in making Grenada a global centre for yachting. He also stressed the fact that yachting encourages the development of a range of ancillary and support services. "We have had yachting in Grenada for many years and we already have experienced chandlers, mechanics and provisioning here on island. However, we expect these services to grow even more with the development of Port Louis. We will more than double the number of yachting berths available in Grenada and with this will come a huge increase in the services needed," Donelan remarked.
 
Speaking to the media after the meeting Minister of Tourism Hon. Peter David expressed the Government's full support for the project. "As Minister of Tourism, I can assure you that Government will take steps to ensure that this project and others of its kind succeed. We welcome the further development of the yachting industry here in Grenada and look forward to receiving more yachts from many different parts of the world."
